The environment the Pretenders created in the early 80s on their breakthrough debut album was completely new. Creative and original, the band became a hit and one of the greatest singer-songwriters in music history, Chrissie Hynde, appeared on the scene. The Ohio-born singer was on the same punk trajectory as her three British musical colleagues Pete Farndon, James Honeyman-Scott and Martin Chambers. As Pretenders, they were more than the sum of their parts. They knew raw, unfiltered British punk, but they also mastered rockabilly, new wave pop and the sound of the British Invasion. Together, they sounded like no other band - and that's what makes them sound young and hip today. The 180g vinyl record, remastered by Krieg Wunderlich for Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab, is released in a limited edition gatefold sleeve with serial number. We recommend using the LP record cleaner "L'Art du Son" to wet wash the vinyl. Again, new records from quality productions will benefit from this.
