Following the breakthrough Pantera achieved with 1992's "Vulgar Display Of Power" (double platinum), singer Philip Anselmo, guitarist Dimebag Darrell (†2004), bassist Rex Brown and drummer Vinnie Paul returned in March 1994 with Far Beyond Driven, which stayed at number one on the Billboard charts for the next seven months and is still considered the heaviest album ever to top the charts. The twelve tracks on the album continued the hard-hitting lineage of its predecessor, with heavy metal assaults like the first single "I'm Broken", as well as mosh pit classics like "5 Minutes Alone" and "Slaughtered". Highlights also included an original and highly successful acoustic cover of Black Sabbath's "Caravan", which became a fan favorite during the album tour.
