New Order have announced the release of a special Blu-ray of their only show of 2018 at London's Alexandra Palace (9 November), and the first live concert release from the now-established line-up of Bernard Sumner, Stephen Morris, Gillian Gilbert, Phil Cunningham and Tom Chapman. The sonically and visually spectacular concert will offer over 2 hours and 20 minutes of an entertaining mix of New Order classics, their current, highly acclaimed album 'Music Complete' (2015) and cover versions of Joy Divison's best songs. It begins with "Singularity" from the "Music Complete" album, followed by a journey through time from "Regret" (1993) to "Love Vigilantes" from 1985's "Low-Life" album and "Ultraviolence" from 1983's "Power, Corruption and Lies" album. Throughout the set, their power over the dancefloor manifests itself in grandiose performances in the style of their famous extended 12" remixes - featuring "True Faith," "Blue Monday" and "Temptation" - and the setlist closes with a miniset of three Joy Division songs. The concert at Alexandra Palace was a celebration of a long and illustrious career for the band, who showed themselves in ruthlessly good form throughout the evening, fusing eras and genres and redefining themselves as perhaps the most important British band of recent decades. Praised by fans and critics alike, the album 'Education Entertainment Recreation (Live at Alexandra Palace)' is a powerful reminder of the togetherness we currently lack in live music - and of the nights we can hopefully look forward to again soon.
